Braided Scarf

Thanks to the most lovely Carole B, I came across the New York based Pixie Market. This site has some very unique and interesting pieces including this braided jersey scarf. Be prepared to drool over some amazing shoes..and..gorgeous dresses..and.. moustache bracelets? YES! oh, you know how much I love moustaches. It's even furry like the real thing!! weeee!! Anyways, I digress...sooooo, I decided to give this scarf a try. This is what I came up with: (click photo to enlarge)

I like it! The original scarf used a clasp to close the two ends together, but I just tied it into one big knot. This was soooo easy to make and super quick too...give it a try! Let me know if you'd like me to post a tutorial, I'd be happy to!

See braided scarf tutorial HERE.

Chips Wow

Oh boy, another ukulele delight! Isn't she sweet like lollipops? I'll say. She reminds me a lot of the french singer Soko ...but less angry. haha. Check out Chips Wow on youtube here, I guarantee you'll be overwhelmed by cuteness. Awwww, I just want to put her in my pocket and take her with me everywhere I go. That would be nice.

This Old Shirt

Oh just getting some final preparations done before the big day. I present to you.....this old shirt!! yahoo!! I've been running a sweat shop in my basement for the past month or so now, crafting my little heart out for the market...BUT hopefully I will be able to set up my Etsy shop once I have a bit more time, I know some of you have been asking. Well, I'm pooped. Thanks for reading and for all your lovely comments, they make me smile real big :)

La Raffinerie

WOWEE! Look what I found. All the jewellery from La Raffinerie is made of vintage pieces. "The beads, chains and studs had once another life under another design…but much less attractive than now! Each piece is unique and has been refined with care." What a delicious idea! Who would have thought that old rusty chains and out of date chandelier earrings could become something so heavenly :) Visit their etsy shop here to see the rest of the collection.

More from Danielle Ate the Sandwich

I just can't get enough of Danielle's music/quirkiness. Such a lovely voice paired with the equally as lovely...ukulele of course. The combination of the two = paradise to my ears.

Dear Danielle,

Once again you have dazzled me with your fine melodic compositions. How I long to see you create your musical magic in person. Thank you for your talent. Oh and one more thing...I think you're nice.

Love,
Connie

Recycled T-Shirt Skirt

I made a skirt!

I was really inspired by Urban Revision's new bleach dyed tops and scarves so I decided to give it a go. I took a large black t-shirt and folded it I normally would to create a spiral tie dyed look and dipped it in some diluted bleach for a few minutes on each side. The look came out much more subtle but I like it. I cut off the sleeves and neckline and sewed the sides together...tapering near the bottom to add more shape. I followed this tutorial from Burda Style to sew on the elastic waist. Excuse the uneven messy stitching haha, this is my first time sewing with elastics. What a tricky little fabric you are!
