Aw, these bracelets are so snuggly and soft you don't even know you're wearing it! What a great way to use up the scraps left over from whatever t shirt project your working on. This knot is just TOO lovely, I think I'm going to try this one next. hmmm looks tricky.

ReplyDeleteis there a way to do it with four different strands? i want to make these for my moving away presents for my four friends and i want to use all of our favorite colors... thanks
ReplyDeleteI think so! the most strands I've tried is three but I bet four would work fine...it'll just be chunkier. If you find it to be TOO chunky I think you could just cut the strips thinner so the strands end up more fine. The first bracelet pictured is a three strand one, just for size reference. Hope that helps! Lemme know how it turns out! Cute idea by the way :)
ReplyDeleteIs this is sweat shirt/hoodie or an actual t-shirt?
ReplyDeleteIt is an actual t-shirt :) sweat shirt would probably be too thick.
ReplyDeleteDoes the fabric glue really hold? I'm going to teach this to some of my students and I just want to make sure they don't come back to me with broken ones. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHi :) I haven't had any of my own fall apart as of yet. For the most part it's pretty strong but I imagine over time the glue might wear away. If the bracelets are on the looser side, there might be less tugging when you put it on and maybe last longer.
ReplyDeletei used an extra large t shirt, and thestips seem to be shorter thatn the ones on your video. about how long are they?
ReplyDeleteYou should cut below the armpit straight across at about one and a half inches to two inches wide width...you will have a strip that is one big circle...keep it flat on the table and cut across the width at one end and the strip will be double the length...hope this helps....you dont need a huge t-shirt either!
DeleteI usually use men's t-shirts since they're bigger...and some fabric is more stretchy than others...or you can cut the strips a bit thinner, that'll make the strands longer.
ReplyDeleteLove these so much! and I especially like the blue one at the top. How did you get the shirt to look like that?
ReplyDeletethanks! I sprayed a little diluted bleach onto the fabric before I made the bracelet!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! Love it! I followed ur blog since I'm new here & also shared this post on my fb page. Would love it if you passed by my blog or fb page:)

ReplyDeleteHey just made my own. The only difference was that I sewed everything instead of glue, since I didn't bring any over break.

ReplyDeleteI was making a few bracelets, and they are super pretty! but how do you make the denim pattern ones? i tried doing them with regular jeans, but it didn't work... can u please help me?
ReplyDeleteThats not denim...it looks like it, but you can tell its t-shirt material...denim wouldnt curl...it has to be T-Shirt fabric...
DeleteLove this!

I love your bracelet. Want to wear this one soon. Its so cute. I am wearing a Custom Silicone Wristbands now and I want to try other bracelet like this one.
ReplyDeleteThese are so cute...I cut my husbands black t-shirt up just to practice a few, and they came out cute...I seen some fabric dye's called "Tumble Dye", and I'm thinking of dying some white t-shirts in pretty colors and making some... Thanks for the great Tutorial... Hope you make more!
ReplyDeleteHere is a tip when making them...if you spray fabric dye on a white t-shirt to give these color, make sure you turn the t-shirt inside out so that when you pull on the fabric and i curls you get the sprayed fabric on the outside where the color was sprayed...just made that mistake, but oh well...we learn from them, right?
ReplyDeleteAnother tip...you dont need a huge t-shirt to do this... instead of cutting the top half where the neck is and using that part of the shirt like she does in the video, use the lower half of the t-shirt and cut your strips, then after the strips are cut, keep the strip flat and cut one end in half...when its openend its twice the size you need and it wont be too short to work with... Hope this helps peeps!
Correction...spray the fabric dye to the inside out t-shirt, not the outside (right side you wear it on)... when it curls it will curl towards the outside (right side)... Also, when your measuring your wrist and you want to know the size to cut the part going around your wrist, wrap it around your wrist and eyeball where it fits just right, and then lay it down, and take a ruler and measure from the knot end out towards where you eyeballed it and cut there... these stretch after there dried so if it looks small thats okay...they'll fit once dried...
ReplyDeleteI find that if you measure your wrist just divide that in half and cut your straps that length (Example: my wrist is 6" around... I lay the bracelet down on the table, and take my ruler and put the end of the ruler right at the side of the knot and measure over 3" and cut it there (half the size of your wrist)...it fits perfectly once its together...for a larger wrist just divide that number in half and measure the straps that length and cut it there...
Deletebest of luck! give it a try.
